Dog Licensing
All dogs 6 months and older must be licensed annually.
The yearly dog licensing period is January 1 through April 1.
Who needs a license? All dogs and wolf hybrids must be licensed within 30 days of acquiring an animal, when it reaches 6 months in age, or by April 1st of each year. Spay/neuter certificates and rabies certificates, issued by a licensed veterinarian in accordance with Section 3581 of Title 20, must be filed at the time of licensing.
What to bring: A valid rabies certificate is required for licensing. A spay/neuter certificate must be provided at the time of licensing for the reduced rate (this information only needs to be provided once, not yearly).
What options do I have if I can’t make it to the office during office hours?
- Mail your application, valid rabies certificate, proof of spay/neuter (if not already on file), licensing fee, and $1/dog return mailing fee.
- Drop your application, valid rabies certificate, proof of spay/neuter (if not already on file), licensing fee, and $1/dog return mailing fee in the grey drop box in front of the Town Hall.
- Call during office hours and pay over the phone if you have a current rabies certificate and proof of spay/neuter (if applicable) on file. A credit card processing fee and $1/dog return mailing fee will be added to the licensing fee.
Visitors with dogs from out of state must have bring a valid rabies certificate and tag to present if necessary. Out of State dogs staying longer than 6 months must be licensed.
