WHAT TO DO AFTER REPORTING
- Take photos of your damaged home and belongings.
- Make a list of damaged or lost items.
- If you have insurance, you must file a claim with your insurance company.
- Flood insurance covers damage due to overland flow affecting two or more properties. This includes damage to utilities in the basement. A homeowner’s policy will not cover losses due to flooding
- If Orange County is included in the President’s Declaration, we will provide further instructions on how to apply for FEMA assistance.
- Begin clean up. After taking photos, you should immediately throw away flooded items that pose a health risk, such as perishable food items, clothing, cushions, and pillows.
