Chelsea Transfer Station
Important Changes in Procedure: Effective January 1st 2024
Dear Chelsea Resident,
On the recommendation of our Transfer Station staff and affirmed by the Chelsea Select Board, effective January 1, 2024, cash will no longer be accepted at the Chelsea Transfer Station. In place of cash payments upon trash disposal at the transfer station, residents will be required to pre-purchase punch cards at the Town Clerk’s office or Will’s store. Furthermore, Transfer Station attendees will be required to purchase annual stickers to use recycling services.
- Annual Stickers
Annual stickers will be required for the use of recycling services at the Transfer Station. Stickers may be adhered to vehicles, recycling bins, or shown to the attendant. Stickers will expire on January 1 of each year. Annual stickers can be purchased 1) in person at the Town Clerk’s office or 2) at Will’s store. Stickers will cost $40 each.
- Trash Disposal
Pre-purchased punch cards must be brought to the transfer station for disposal of trash. The transfer station will no longer accept cash or checks. Before arriving at the Transfer Station, be sure you have sufficient punches remaining on your card(s) to pay for disposal. Punch cards can be purchased 1) in person at the Town Clerk’s office or, 2) at Will’s store.
Punch cards will be available with: $30 for a 10-punch card (each punch worth $3), $50 for a 10-punch card (each punch worth $5) or $100 for a bulk punch card (20 $5-punches).
Punch cards and recycling stickers are now available for purchase at Will’s Store and the Town Clerks Office. Please begin bringing these to the Transfer Station with you starting January 1, 2024.
